BRECOprotect Timing Belts
BRECOprotect timing belts are designed for industries with demanding hygiene, moisture, and corrosion requirements. Developed for reliable operation in food, pharmaceutical, and cleanroom environments, these blue, corrosion-protected belts combine the proven precision of BRECO polyurethane technology with full FDA and EU food-contact compliance. Available through Bondy A/S, BRECOprotect belts deliver outstanding durability, smooth operation, and hygienic performance for European OEMs and machine builders.
Advantages and Features
- Corrosion-protected steel tension members fully encapsulated in polyurethane
- FDA and EU food-contact compliant, certified by FABES GmbH
- Blue, hygienic polyurethane surface for easy visual control
- Resistant to moisture, cleaning agents, and hydrolysis
- High tensile strength and dimensional stability
- Available in AT, T, and flat profiles for diverse applications
- Smooth, easy-to-clean design without coiling nose
- Supplied as open length or endless joined belts
- Optional end seals and welded-on TPUAU1 profiles

BRECOprotect timing belts feature steel tension members completely encapsulated in thermoplastic polyurethane (TPUAU1). This unique construction ensures full corrosion protection while maintaining high tensile strength and dimensional stability.
The belt body is extruded from FDA-compliant polyurethane, meeting both U.S. and European food contact regulations (FDA CFR §177.1680, EC 1935/2004, EU 10/2011). The smooth blue surface helps detect foreign particles in food production and aligns with standard food-industry color coding.
BRECOprotect belts are available as open-length belts (BRECO M) or endless joined belts (BRECO V). The special non-coiling design prevents hidden residue build-up, simplifying cleaning and improving hygiene. The belts can also be produced with welded-on profiles (within dimensional limits) for transport or conveying applications.
Typical Applications
BRECOprotect timing belts are ideal for:
- Food processing and packaging machinery
- Pharmaceutical and medical equipment
- Beverage filling and bottling lines
- Cleanroom automation systems
- Hygienic conveying and handling technology
- Machines exposed to moisture, steam, or cleaning chemicals

FAQ
What makes BRECOprotect different from standard polyurethane timing belts?
BRECOprotect belts feature fully encapsulated steel tension members, ensuring complete corrosion protection in humid or washdown environments — ideal for food and pharmaceutical applications.
Are BRECOprotect belts approved for direct food contact?
Yes. They comply with FDA CFR §177.1680, EC 1935/2004, and EU 10/2011, and have been migration-tested and certified for direct and repeated food contact up to 70°C.
Can BRECOprotect belts be mechanically processed or have profiles welded on?
Limited mechanical processing is possible, but care must be taken not to expose the tension members. Welded-on TPUAU1 profiles are possible within defined dimensional limits.
Are end seals necessary?
End seals are recommended for open-length belts to maintain complete corrosion protection and hygiene, especially in food and wet environments.
What belt profiles are available in the BRECOprotect range?
The range includes AT5 PRO, AT10 PRO, AT15 PRO, AT20 PRO, T10 PRO, T20 PRO, and flat F3 PRO versions, available as open-length or endless joined belts.
