A pharmaceutical manufacturer needed a replacement for linear modules that had been discontinued. Spare parts were becoming difficult to source, and maintenance costs were rising.
Bondy developed a BLM linear module that fitted directly in place of the original units. The improved design extended service life from one year to three years and allowed the modules to be refurbished instead of replaced, reducing downtime, costs and resource consumption.
Challenge
The discontinued modules put the customer at risk of production stoppages. The replacement needed to fit the existing equipment, support long-term maintenance and be available with short lead times.
Solution
Bondy designed a BLM linear module with reinforced bearings and adjustable components. The design tripled service life and made refurbishment quick and straightforward.
The module was developed to meet the application’s specified material and documentation requirements.
Result
The customer gained a reliable replacement with three times the service life and a lower TCO. Spare parts supplied from local stock in Denmark reduced the risk of delays during maintenance.
Longer service life and the option to refurbish the modules meant fewer complete replacements, less waste and a smaller carbon footprint.
